A Virginia State University football player has hired Toscano Law Group to represent him in a claim of harassment. The alleged harassment took place for months during the 2022 football season.

“College administrators and coaches have a duty of care over their student-athletes, and therefore must ensure their teams are free from bullying and harassment," said attorney Diane Toscano who represents the player.

Toscano said she hoped that this matter would be resolved confidentially with Virginia State University leadership - and that the identity of the parties involved would be kept private - but stressed they are investigating all legal options.

The family of the player came to Toscano Law Group because of media coverage of the law firm's representation of college football players at other universities. The law firm currently represents two former football players at Norfolk State University who have filed federal lawsuits against the school for violations of Title IX and sexual assault and harassment.

The law firm established its Campus Legal Problems practice two years ago with the hiring of Jana Nattermann, a former university Title IX deputy coordinator, to meet the growing need for legal solutions that arise from a variety of college campus-based problems. In addition to Title IX, our lawyers handle student conduct matters, employment disputes, and problems in college athletics.
